Transplantasi Terumbu Karang Dilakukan di Perairan Pulau Pramuka

Coral Reef Transplantation Conducted in Pramuka Island Waters

As part of the 80th Indonesian Independence Day celebrations, the Thousand Islands Tourism and Creative Economy (Parekraf) Sub-agency collaborated with the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards Alumni Club (IISMA-AC) to carry out a coral reef transplantation titled "IndependenSea" in the waters of Pramuka Island, Panggang Island Urban Village, North Thousand Islands Sub-district.

"Hopefully, this activity will inspire other youth to grow awareness and responsibility in caring for the Earth,"

Head of Thousand Islands Parekraf Sub-agency, Sonti Pangaribuan, stated that the involvement of younger generations reflects a tangible commitment to marine conservation and the sustainability of Jakarta's coastal ecosystem.

International Students Join Environmental Action on Untung Jawa Island

"I'm proud to see there are still many young people who care about the environment," she said on Monday (8/18).

She added that their participation shows the spirit of independence can be celebrated not only through ceremonies but also through meaningful action for environmental sustainability.

"Hopefully, this activity will inspire other youth to grow awareness and responsibility in caring for the Earth," she expressed.

The event coordinator and IISMA-AC member, Rafandika Rangga, explained that the Thousand Islands was chosen as the location due to its vital role in maintaining the balance of Jakarta's marine ecosystem.

"In this action, we planted 35 coral seedlings under the sea. Hopefully, this becomes a symbol of new hope for marine ecosystem sustainability," he said.

He added that the activity also synergized with Thousand Islands Abang None and Smiling Coral, an organization focused on marine conservation.

Through this coral reef transplantation, Rangga hopes it will leave behind a better environmental legacy with preserved sustainability.

"The Thousand Islands is not just a tourist destination, but a frontline guardian of marine preservation. Let's intensify this effort for the sake of our future generations," he encouraged.
